Being the aspiring entrepreneur that I am, I realize that I will some day have the option of walking into a high end car dealership and telling them which spot on my ass they can kiss while I pick out my shiny new ride. Of course, this then got me thinking about the price I would be paying for gas once I drove my toy off the lot. The findings here are incredible.
ogle:
Now to be fair, I am only comparing manual versions of these vehicles. My reasoning here is that any true sports car should walk with a big stick (No pun intended).
2008 Lamborghini Murcielago
With a 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds, quarter mile time of 11.8 seconds @ 136mph, and top speed of 211 mph, the Lambo is the most vicious and definite leader of this pack in terms of all out power and speed. In fact the only car that comes close is the Ferrari F430. Were I comparing the numbers alone, I would not put any of these cars in the same class as the Lambo. However, the astonishing numbers here are the gas numbers. Beating around the city, the Lambo gets only 8 mpg and on the highway, it gets a whopping 13 mpg. Annual fuel costs for this beauty fall just under $5,000 ($4,950 to be exact). The Lambo definitely sucks on gas.
2008 Ferrari F430
The ferrari has always been one of my favorite exotic cars. It has some of the most well defined lines of them all, can hang with the big boys and play with the little kids all in the same day, and it is readily available (if you have the dinero) here in the states. The ferrari can go from 0 – 60 in 3.8 seconds, run a quarter mile in 12 seconds flat @ 119.6 mph, and has a top speed of 216 mph. Basing this purely on the official numbers, and it seems like the f430 has a faster top speed than the lambo (some confirmed reports have stated that the lambo can reach a top speed of 219 mph). Around town it gets 11 mpg. On the highway it gets 16 mpg. Annual fuel costs are $3,807. Not bad for a super car, but still a big drain on the wallet.
2008 Aston Martin DB9 Coupe
The Aston Martin brand is known for it’s elegance, sleek engineering design, and appearance in just about every James Bond movie since before I was a thought in parent’s head. The DB9 coupe follows strongly in it’s heritage’s foot steps. A beautiful vehicle with some nice performance numbers. It goes from 0 – 60 in 4.7 seconds, does the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds @ 112.6 mph and has a top speed of 186 mph. Around the city it gets 10 mpg and on the highway, it gets 16 mpg. This brings the annual fuel cost to $4,123. Ouch, my back pocket is still hurting from the beating my wallet just took.
2008 Audi R8
Now here we have a vehicle that defies the rules in some sense. It’s made by a manufacturer who has always been classified as a luxury car manufacturer. In my honest opinion, the Audi brand has only been trouble for my friends and family. My friend purchased an Audi S4 only to have back in to the dealership a few months later for engine trouble! Still don’t believe me, then have a look at myaudittsucks.com. Even still, the R8 defies it’s brand, defied my expectations, and will defy your eyes when you see it in person. I had the joy of seeing it in person at a car show here in San Francisco. The event was sponsored by Audi and they were unveiling some of their new vehicles for 2008. My jaw dropped when I saw it. The R8 is super car based on looks alone, but it doesn’t stop there. It has a 0 – 60 time of 4.6 seconds, can run a quarter mile in 12.5 seconds @ 113 mph, and it’s top speed of 187 mph is enough to escape even the most resilient of cops followers. Checking on the gas details it looks like the vehicle gets a reasonable 13 mpg around the city and 20 mpg on the highway. However annual fuel costs still fell at $3,302. Amazing! The car is not going to make me broke in 1 year, it looks beautiful, can beat out an Aston Martin DB9 coupe, and still have extra room for you to move around. I say, we have a winner folks! The Audi R8 will be my first super car (a baby super car maybe) but it will be my first.
Even more scary here is the fact that the Hummer H3 gets 13 and 18 mpg around the city and highway respectively, and has an annual fuel cost of $3,072. Reasons # 1, 2, and 3 why the Hummer is just not for me.
Final Note: Compare these numbers to those of the 2008 Honda Accord with it’s 22 and 31 mpg around the city and highway respectively, and an annual fuel cost of $1,842 and now you have a feel for what the average American spends on gas.
The EVO will beat the 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago on the track and save on gas and money cost about 4 times less LOL…GO EVO!!!
EVO sux(
